How We Rate AI Girlfriend Apps

How we rate AI girlfriend apps is designed to make comparisons clearer. Each overall score combines four criteria: features, value, billing and trust, and popularity. The framework uses information published on each service’s website.

This is an editorial comparison score, not a user rating or a hands-on test. It helps you see how an AI companion app compares on practical elements such as its ways to chat, create, subscribe, and cancel.

A score built from four criteria

Every service can receive up to 10 points in total. Features account for up to 4 points, value up to 2 points, billing and trust up to 2 points, and popularity up to 2 points. The categories are weighted to keep the focus on the product experience while recognising subscription clarity and brand interest.

We use the same framework across the comparison. Information comes from the service websites, including their product pages, plans, and terms where relevant.

Features: up to 4 points

This category measures the available core AI companion features. Chat, voice messages, voice calls, images, video, character creation, memory, roleplay, group chat, and a mobile app can each contribute 0.5 points.

The feature result is capped at 4 points. It rewards a broader companion experience, from everyday conversation and custom characters to media generation and ways to interact.

Value: up to 2 points

A free plan or free trial contributes 0.7 points. This recognises a way to explore an AI girlfriend app before making a longer commitment.

The remaining value points reflect the lowest advertised monthly price band: up to 5 earns 1.3 points; up to 10 earns 1 point; up to 15 earns 0.6 points; a higher level earns 0.3 points; and a price that is not public earns 0.4 points. This criterion considers the entry level rather than every paid tier.

Billing and trust: up to 2 points

Clear account and payment information matters when choosing an adult AI companion. Discreet billing stated by the service contributes 0.7 points, an explained cancellation process contributes 0.6 points, and a named company contributes 0.3 points.

A stated refund policy adds 0.2 points. Two or more stated payment methods add another 0.2 points. The category is capped at 2 points and reflects the clarity of published billing information, not an assessment of a company’s wider conduct.

Popularity: up to 2 points

Popularity is based on monthly US searches for the brand and uses a logarithmic scale. This avoids allowing larger search volumes to dominate the overall score.

A brand with 250,000 or more monthly US searches receives 2 points in this category. Popularity is only one part of the score and does not determine product quality on its own.

What the score does not measure

The score is not an average of user reviews, and it is not based on personal hands-on testing. It does not promise that every app will suit every preference or that every feature will feel equally important to every person.

Commission is never counted in the score. A service’s commercial relationship with the site has no role in its features, value, billing and trust, or popularity result.
